About Subhiksha Voluntary Organization
Subhiksha Voluntary Organization is a registered non-governmental organization established on 8th
October 2009 by a group of trained and qualified professional social workers. The organization was
founded with the mission of supporting, empowering, and improving the quality of life of children
and young adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD).
Our primary focus is on individuals with Intellectual Disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Cerebral
Palsy, and Multiple Developmental Disabilities, who require specialized education, therapeutic
intervention, and rehabilitation services to reach their full potential.
Subhiksha Voluntary Organization works extensively in urban slums and low-income communities of
Hyderabad District, Telangana, India, where access to specialized services for persons with
disabilities is extremely limited. A majority of the families we serve belong to economically
disadvantaged backgrounds, making it difficult for them to access professional rehabilitation and
educational support for their children.
To bridge this gap, Subhiksha operates a Special School cum Rehabilitation Centre for Children
with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, providing comprehensive and integrated support
services.
The key services provided include:
-
Special Education designed for children with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
-
Physiotherapy to improve motor development and physical functioning
-
Speech and Language Therapy to enhance communication abilities
-
Occupational Therapy to develop functional independence and daily living skills
-
Vocational Training and Life Skills Development to prepare young adults for independent living and livelihood opportunities
-
Academic Education affiliated with the NIOS Board to ensure flexible and inclusive educational pathways
-
Sports and Recreational Activities that promote physical health, confidence, and social participation
Through this integrated rehabilitation model, Subhiksha Voluntary Organization aims to enhance
functional abilities, promote independence, uphold dignity, and ensure social inclusion for
children and young adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, enabling them to live with
confidence and dignity within their families and communities.
